Melting Pot Luck

We were awarded a grant from Stark Gemacht to launch a new project that began in October 2024, titled "Melting Pot Luck."
This innovative project is designed to support the integration and empowerment of teenage girls from diverse backgrounds through a series of creative glassblowing workshops. By introducing participants to the unique art of glassblowing, we aim to foster social competence, teamwork, responsibility, self-confidence, education, and cultural exchange. Through this hands-on experience, the girls will be encouraged to design and create their own glass objects, using art as a tool to break down cultural barriers and build self-assurance.
An additional goal of Melting Pot Luck is to promote gender equality in the field of glassblowing, a craft that has been traditionally male-dominated. We want to inspire and empower young women to claim their space in this art form.
The project will offer regular workshops where participants will learn the entire process of creating glass objects—from concept to finished piece. To celebrate their achievements, we plan to host a communal dinner in our studio at the end of the program, using the beautiful glassware they have made themselves—cups, plates, bottles, vases, candle holders, bowls, and sculptures—turning their artistic work into a shared experience of community and pride.
Each workshop cycle will run for one month, welcoming three teenage girls per session. The participants will meet twice a week, for three-hour sessions, ensuring enough time to learn, experiment, and create in a supportive and collaborative environment. With Melting Pot Luck, we hope to create not just glass art, but also lasting connections and new opportunities for expression and inclusion.
